A new intuitive way to navigate your in-car music library
In collaboration with
A Technology Looking for a Problem
Impulse Audio Lab builds audio technology for cars. They had the tools — stem separation, spatial audio, in-car sound processing — but no clear picture of what drivers actually need when it comes to interacting with music behind the wheel.
I was brought in to figure that out.
Rather than starting from the technology and pushing it toward a market, I stepped back. What do people actually experience when they try to find music while driving? What's broken about it? What do they want that current systems don't give them?
Understanding the Problem:
Context Mapping
I ran a generative workshop with custom cultural probe booklets and a Lego Serious Play session to surface how people really relate to music in transit.
